In an office, a poster can complement your workspace or give your background a focal point. Start by looking at the wall from your chair: which part stays visible between the screen, the shelves and the lamp?
1Choose a subject you will enjoy seeing every day
A city, an instrument or an illustration related to your work gives the decor a personal direction. For a subtle look, pick up a color already present in the room. If you prefer a standout piece, compare a more contrasting poster with a softer composition, from your usual position.
Explore the office posters, the botanical illustrations or a naturalist plate (insects, butterflies, fish). No palette is universally better for working: comfort also depends on your lighting and your preferences.
2Test the footprint before choosing the size
Measure the free space, then mark the outer edge of the frame with a paper template. Look at it both seated and standing. A mat increases the footprint: the dimensions of the print are not those of the complete frame. Check the sizes offered on the page of the poster you have chosen.
3Prepare a video call background
Open your camera preview before hanging the poster. Part of the wall may disappear from the frame, and a lamp may reflect in the glass. Move the template around to compare positions, without changing your whole workstation.
For hanging, see the framing guide. Start with one poster: you can add to the wall later if you like the result.
